Health as the soundness of mind, body and spirit is thought of as a
wanted aspect of being human. But, who desires what, is the key point. We as human beings are all co-existing in a great variety of shape and size! Options often become a habit and obesity or anorexia occurs if left unchecked. Decay or poor physical condition can be avoided, at will, by treating all we like to eat and drink with intelligence and care for our physical and mental condition and health!
The needs of the body regarding for health include the essentials of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, mineral salts, water and roughage. The correct proportions for the body to function efficiently must be available in the correct proportions.
Carbohydrates are such as – sugar, jam, cereals, bread, biscuits, potatoes, fruit and vegetables. This will provide heat and energy for the body in question and if, in excess to the bodily needs, will be converted to fat and deposited under the skin. Therefore thought is required to avoid obesity.
Proteins are linked together chemically and are called amino acids. are broken down and absorbed into the blood of the body. Some acids are essential as they cannot be made in the body. Others are non-essential and can be produced in the body. hat contains the essential amino acids are meat, milk, fish, eggs and soya beans. Non-essential amino acids are mainly of vegetable origin and are pulses such as peas, beans and lentils.
Fats are obvious items such as cream, egg yolk, fish oil, milk, cheese, butter, vegetable fat. These can be absorbed by the body.
Vitamins are essential for health and vary in kind and food intake. Examples are eggs, butter, milk, cheese, peanuts, lettuce, whole cereal, liver and green vegetables, blackcurrants, oranges, grapefruit, and lemons.
Mineral salts are required in small amounts and are compounds of calcium, iron, potassium and sodium.
Water speaks for itself and, as commonly known, makes up about half of our body weight. It provides an environment required for our body to live and thrive. It also dilutes and moistens our food! It cools our body and aids our excretory processes of urine and faeces as also does the roughage part of our diet.
